Bonding

Like other cosmetic dentistry services available at North Aurora Smiles, our doctors perform treatments for the smile that are aesthetic in appearance. This is incredibly important as many patients are worried about dental treatments appearing fake or unnatural when compared to the rest of the smile. Our team of professionals treats every patient in the North Aurora, IL, area who visits their practice with the best possible solutions for their smiles. When aesthetic repairs need to be performed, our team may recommend dental bonding.

What is dental bonding?

Dental bonding is the name for the composite resin used in our facility to correct imperfections of the smile. This material is applied to the teeth and cured to harden. The dentist can file and polish down the resin to ensure it looks just like natural tooth enamel. Many patients who use dental bonding may use it for:

  • Restoring a cavity on a front tooth
  • Disguising a gap on the front teeth
  • Fixing a chipped or broken tooth
  • Covering a permanently stained tooth
  • Reshaping a tooth or lengthen a short tooth
  • Covering other imperfections of the natural tooth enamel

Why choose dental bonding?

Dental bonding is a popular choice for many of our patients who have cosmetic concerns with their smiles. This material is applied and completed in a single appointment, allowing patients to make fast, effective transformations of their smiles quickly and easily. The material is susceptible to staining, so it is often replaced after several years. Patients find that composite resin bonding is extremely versatile and can help with a wide range of aesthetic issues within the smile.

What are alternative treatments?

In most situations, the only alternative treatment that might be considered are porcelain veneers, which cover the front of a tooth to disguise similar imperfections more permanently. Most patients find that porcelain veneers last longer and are more resistant to stains over time.
