Porcelain Veneers

At North Aurora Smiles, we are committed to providing the best dental care, including cosmetic dentistry. Imperfections present in the front of the smile are the most noticeable and can draw attention away from otherwise healthy teeth. In situations such as this, Dr. Stephanie Janes and Dr. Hammad Aziz may recommend the fabrication and placement of porcelain veneers for North Aurora, IL area patients.

How do porcelain veneers work?

The porcelain veneer is a thin ceramic covering that is custom-made for a patient to fit the appearance of their remaining teeth. The veneer is bonded onto the front of a tooth to disguise imperfections that can have a negative impact on one’s smile. The use of a porcelain veneer can address some of the following issues:

  • Permanently stained teeth
  • Misaligned/crooked teeth
  • Spaced teeth
  • Unusually shaped teeth
  • Chipped/broken teeth

When these problems arise, patients are urged to contact North Aurora Smiles to schedule a consultation visit with Dr. Stephanie Janes or Dr. Hammad Aziz to see if they are proper candidates for porcelain veneers.

What other options are available?

In many situations, patients may have the ability to choose the cosmetic treatment most appropriate for their unique needs. Porcelain veneers aren’t the only option that patients can consider for covering imperfect teeth. Other solutions that your dentist might recommend are composite resin bonding or orthodontic work. The benefit of composite resin bonding is that it can typically be completed in one appointment, however,  this material is not stain resistant and not as life-like, and will need to be replaced more often than a veneer. For some patients orthodontic treatment like traditional braces, Six Month Smiles, or Invisalign is a good option for addressing misaligned teeth, but orthodontic work does take more time, anywhere from six months to 2 years.
