There’s more to orthodontics than just metal brackets and wires! Although traditional braces have their place, more people are turning to Invisalign clear aligners to straighten their teeth. If you live in or near North Aurora, Illinois, you can come to North Aurora Smiles for Invisalign treatment. These Invisalign FAQs compiled by our doctors provide greater insight into the Invisalign clear aligner system and how it can benefit you.
The Invisalign orthodontic system straightens crooked teeth and fixes orthodontic problems using clear retainers called aligners rather than metal hardware. The system works best on mild to moderate crowding and spacing issues and is suitable for adults and teens.
Our doctors will start with a consultation to determine if Invisalign is a good fit for you. If so, we’ll use 3D imaging to plan your treatment so you can visualize how your smile will look after the treatment is completed. You will receive a series of custom-made, clear retainers (aligners) to fit your teeth. These aligners will function like traditional braces in slowly and gently shifting your crooked or spaced teeth into proper alignment. You’ll wear the aligners at least 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them mainly for eating, brushing, and flossing your teeth. You’ll switch to new aligners every two weeks to continue the realignment process until your smile goals are achieved.
With Invisalign, you benefit from:
Yes! Your risk of cavities and gum disease is decreased when you have straight teeth because they are easier to clean. Correcting bite issues will minimize wear and tear on your teeth as they won’t clash when you chew. Your teeth will function better for biting and chewing and be easier to clean, contributing to long-term tooth and gum health.
Treatment times vary depending on the problems that need to be fixed. Average treatment times range from 6 to 12 months, although many issues can be corrected sooner.
