Why patients love Botox injections and dermal fillers as the best solutions for anti-aging

Botox injections and dermal fillers have become increasingly popular among patients as solutions for anti-aging. These cosmetic procedures involve using aesthetic injectables to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging on the face. At North Aurora Smiles of North Aurora, Illinois, Dr. Stephanie Janes can help you decide if these injectable treatments can be integrated into your next visit to the dentist!

What are cosmetic injectables?

Botox is a neuromodulator designed to reduce muscle tension and smooth dynamic wrinkles that develop around the eyes, mouth, and forehead. Dermal fillers are gel-like and formulated with hyaluronic acid. They add immediate volume to wrinkles and folds to lessen their appearance. Both types of cosmetic injectables are available at North Aurora Smiles.

What are the benefits of Botox injections and dermal fillers?

  • Non-invasive. One of the main reasons patients love Botox injections and dermal fillers is that they are non-surgical options. Many people are hesitant to undergo surgery due to potential risks and downtime. With Botox and fillers, there is no need for incisions or anesthesia, making them a convenient choice for those looking for a quick fix.
  • Long-lasting results. Another reason for their popularity is that the results are noticeable and long-lasting. Botox injections can last for about 3-6 months, while dermal fillers can last up to a year or more, depending on the type used. This allows patients to maintain a youthful appearance without having to constantly undergo treatments.
  • Customizable treatments. Also, these cosmetic injectables can be tailored to meet each individual’s specific needs. Whether it’s targeting fine lines around the mouth or adding volume to cheeks and lips, Botox and dermal fillers can be used in combination or separately to achieve desired results.
  • Affordability. These cosmetic injectables are very affordable compared to other cosmetic procedures on the market today. This makes them accessible to a wider range of men and women who are looking for anti-aging solutions without breaking the bank.
  • Minimal recovery time. Botox and dermal filler injectables require little to no downtime or recovery time. Patients resume their daily activities immediately after their in-office treatment, making it a convenient option for those with hectic schedules and busy lifestyles.

What is Botulinum Toxin?

Approved by the FDA, Botox is a purified protein that temporarily stops nerve signals that cause muscle movement when injected into specific muscles. This action relaxes the muscles, aiding in the reduction or elimination of fine lines and wrinkles. After receiving a botulinum toxin injection, the treated facial muscles enter a period of temporary relaxation within three to five days, resulting in smoother, unwrinkled surface skin. Meanwhile, untouched facial muscles

continue to contract in their normal rhythm, leaving facial expressions unaffected. These quick and simple injections are effective for up to three months. With frequent treatments, botulinum toxin can aid in training your facial muscles to lessen wrinkles and discomfort for extended periods.

How is Botulinum Toxin Used as a Therapeutic?

Botox works on the muscle receptors that are accountable for excessive muscular activity. This reduces the functionality of the overactive muscle, offering both therapeutic and aesthetic advantages. If you’re affected by concerns such as chronic headaches, migraines, TMJ disorders, and/or bruxism (teeth clenching and grinding), you might be an ideal candidate for this treatment.
